Basic water adaptation

Basic water adaptation

At Sailfish Swim Academy, we focus on ensuring children feel comfortable and confident in water right from the start through fundamental skills.

  1. We teach water entry by jumping into the pool safely
  2. Gradually, children progress to gliding in from a sitting position at the poolside at counts of 3, 5, and 7, which helps them to develop buoyancy.

Once they are comfortable with water entry, we move on to teach:

  1. Children to independently hold Starfish Float for 5 counts
  2. Children to independently hold Mushroom Float for 10 counts
  3. Children to independently back float for 10 counts
  4. Master rocket to back float technique

These are fundamental skills that every swimmer should master in order to progress to more advanced techniques, and we help children to learn these techniques step-by-step. By practicing these techniques, children can build their confidence and develop a strong foundation for more advanced swimming skills.
