Basic water adaptation for children under 5 years

At Sailfish Swim Academy, we have specific techniques and methods to teach children under 5 years old the necessary skills to become comfortable and confident in the water.

1. We teach them to hand pull themselves through the water for a distance of 2 meters or 7 feet.
2. We also work on breath control with face underwater for 10 seconds.
3. We also help them to achieve a 5 count independent back float, which is an important safety skill for all young swimmers.

As they progress,

  1. We move on to teaching them the windmill arm stroke for freestyle
  2. We help them to achieve an independent roll-over breath technique

Once they have mastered these basic skills,

  1. We work on refining their technique and building their endurance.
  2. We aim to have them swim a distance of 6 meters or 20 feet using windmill arms, independent roll over breath, and return to the end point.

Our experienced instructors create a fun and supportive environment for young swimmers, helping them to learn and grow at their own pace. With a focus on safety, skill development, and enjoyment, we help children under 5 years old become confident and capable swimmers.
